First look: Whole Foods plaza in south Fort Myers signs 18 tenants
A whole lot of work has been done and openings are in sight.
The new Whole Foods Market-anchored shopping plaza at the northwest corner of Daniels and Six Mile Cypress parkway in Fort Myers is almost fully leased, with the first tenants expected to open this summer. While the star of Daniels Marketplace will be the 45,000-square-foot The Whole Foods Market — the first in Lee County — the tenant list includes a number of stores that will be first or second of their kind in the county, and in some cases the region.
And that’s just for starters. Other retailers include most recently signed tenants California Closets, Club Pilates, Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa, Mathnasium, Pacific Dental Services, Paradise Grills, Pearle Vision, Tide Dry Cleaners, Tipsy Nail Bar and UhmazeBowls.
Opening dates for specific retailers could not be disclosed, though McElyea said the first tenants are expected to open this summer.
“The first will probably not be Whole Foods,” she said. “Whole Foods is very particular about not announcing their opening date until they are very close, like four to six weeks out.”
There is also the potential for a second phase, McElyea said, which would add 10,000 square feet, although there is no timeline for it.
“There’s been a ton of interest in this center,” she said.
While the developer has been working on about 20 projects across the country, McElyea thinks this one has generated the most buzz.
“The people of Fort Myers are probably more excited for this project to open than any other project we’re working on,” she said. “We know everyone is excited for Whole Foods to enter the market and are excited for all these great retailers to come in too.”
